Religion and ethics

NSW public schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics, delivered by approved providers wherever available.

At Bathurst South Public School, SRE and Alternative Meaningful Activities are delivered on a Tuesday or Wednesday for all classes between 11:35 am-1:05 pm. Each Stage participates for 30 minutes.
During the time that SRE/SEE classes are being held, students not attending will be located in a separate space and will participate in meaningful activities (activities could include reading, private study or completing homework).

Multi-Denominational lessons are delivered by Various approved volunteers from the Curriculum Approved Provider – Anglican Diocese Sydney.

A parent/carer may at any time notify the school in writing that they wish to change their decision. Students will continue the same arrangement as the previous year, unless a parent/carer has requested a change in writing.

If your preferred Special Religious Education or Special Education in Ethics option is not available please contact the approved provider. Students not attending Special Religious Education or Special Education in Ethics are given supervised alternative meaningful activities.

For more information about Special Religious Education and Special Education in Ethics, including the list of approved providers, please visit: https://education.nsw.gov.au/religion-and-ethics

During enrolment, you can choose a special religious education option for your child from the school’s available approved providers. You can withdraw your child from special religious education by selecting alternative meaningful activities, or special education in ethics if it’s available.

You can update your preference by writing to the school or through the online form available at participating schools.
